One of the biggest problems is that green and Holistic living is too expensive. Far too many of us do not understand, and what is more disturbing do not care about toxic fabrics, dyes and chemicals, or unethical manufacturing practices used by many companies to produce many synthetic fabrics. However there are way too many people who do care, but truly cannot afford costly Green fashions. Healthy living should be accessible for everyone, not just for those of us who are affluent. We may even be able to get some of us who are just apathetic and using cost as an excuse to pay attention. Silk and Your Health
When you buy silk
you’re buying an investment. The time consuming process of growing
silkworms and harvesting their cocoons for the soft silk, makes them
expensive. Therefore before you buy them here are a few things to
ponder.
Silk sheets
are great in both the summer and the winter. Because it gently conforms
to a person's body. Silk retains heat and keeps a person warm in the
winter. In summer its great breathe ability properties allow it to wick
away moisture and keep a person cool.
Weight and Thread Count
momme weight - (pronounced like mummy) Silk
is typically measured by momme weight because it is such a fine and
light fabric. The higher the momme number the heavier the fabric. A
momme weight of 12-19 is good for sheets.
Thread count - look for sheets that have a thread count of at least 400.
There are two types of silk, wild silk
and cultivated silk. Wild silk comes from wild silkworms. The filament
threads from them are not long continuous threads like those from cultivated silk
so it is not as durable or as strong as cultivated. Sheets made from
cultivated silk are recommended because the thread strands are much
longer. Cultivated silk is referred to as Mulberry Silk because that is the only food cultivated silkworms eat.
Satin refers to the weave of the fabric. The silk filaments in satin
silk are woven in a way that gives the fabric a smooth shiny surface.
When You Buy Silk Sheets
an Important Consideration is department stores are the first place
many people go. You may want to buy your silk sheets online, because
most department stores do not offer high quality silk sheets.

disorders. Silk immediately adjusts to our body temperature and gives
extra warmth where needed. Therefore silk is ideal for blood circulation
or who suffer from pains in the joints like with rheumatism or
arthritis. Silk bedding and underwear contribute to the relief of
arthritis pain, and give satisfaction to those who have muscle
complaints and motion problems. For people whole have trouble sleeping silk

fibber does not attract nor cause dust. Silk can retain up to 30% of its
own weight in moisture without feeling wet to the touch. The protein
structure of silk is comparable to the human skin.
Silk feeds the cells of the skin and activates the capillary system
below the skin. Silk helps to prevent decubitis because of the direct
contact with the skin. For those who need to lay in bed for a long
periods it is advisory to use silk. sleeping in silk the body
experiences a cleansing process, as it exudes harmful elements with the
perspiration.

I love silk - and high count cotton but the bamboo shirts I have are not holding up well. Perhaps the quality is not the best. Does bamboo have thread count too?
I love my duvet - just about time for a new one - will ship your site to a friend as a hint.
Thank you!
maybe they should put silk sheets in hospitals.
